About the role
The Sr. Tax Analyst, Trans. Pric. & Disputes plays a critical role in supporting DePuy Synthes’ U.S. and global tax strategy, with a focus on tax planning initiatives, audit support, and controversy management. This role partners closely with Finance, Legal, and external advisors to manage tax risk, support business transactions, and ensure compliance with applicable tax laws.
Responsibilities
- Support U.S. federal, state, and local tax planning initiatives, including modeling and analysis of business transactions, restructurings, and supply-chain changes.
- Aid in managing tax audits, examinations, and disputes by preparing documentation, analyzing issues, and coordinating responses with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
- Research and analyze tax law changes and assess potential impacts to DePuy Synthes’ operations and financial results.
- Prepare and review technical tax memoranda and position papers supporting tax planning strategies and audit positions.
- Collaborate with Finance and Legal teams to support mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other strategic initiatives from a tax perspective.
- Support transfer pricing, intercompany transactions, and cross-border tax considerations as needed.
- Assist with tax provision and compliance processes by providing planning and controversy-related inputs.
- Drive continuous improvement in tax processes, documentation, and controls to enhance efficiency and risk management.
Requirements
- Typically 0–2 years of progressive experience in corporate tax, public accounting, or a combination of both, aligned to a senior analyst level.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal income tax, with exposure to state/local and international tax concepts.
- Experience supporting tax audits, examinations, or dispute resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to research and interpret complex tax legislation and case law.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a matrixed, cross-functional environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field (required).
- Master’s degree in Taxation or MBA with a tax focus (preferred).
- Preferred experience in a multinational corporation, preferably within MedTech, manufacturing, or life sciences.
- Exposure to tax planning related to business transformations, supply-chain planning, or intellectual property.
- Prior experience working with external advisors on audits and tax planning projects.
- CPA, JD, or other relevant tax certification.
- Familiarity with tax provision processes and ASC 740 concepts.
