About the role

Join our Senior Tax Analyst team! Since its founding in 1937, Krispy Kreme has focused on making fresh doughnuts using the founder's original recipe. The Senior Tax Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting various tax functions, from income tax accounting and compliance to state and local tax, indirect tax, property tax, and business licenses.

Responsibilities

  • Compile and analyze financial data for federal, state, and local tax filings and quarterly and annual tax provisions.
  • Perform detailed technical and analytical reviews of deliverables prepared by third-party tax providers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper application of tax law and accounting guidance.
  • Manage filing calendars, estimated payments, and extensions to ensure timely compliance across all jurisdictions.
  • Prepare and maintain tax account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and related journal entries.
  • Oversee state income and franchise tax processes, including apportionment data collection, jurisdictional tracking, and nexus considerations.
  • Coverage of property tax, sales and use tax, and business license compliance and review related accruals and filings.
  • Coordinate with external providers on tax processes and provide audit support by preparing documentation and responding to internal and external auditor requests.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and enhancements to data flow and workpaper standardization.
  • Work cross-functionally with Finance and external service providers to facilitate data flow, address open items, and maintain an effective and well-coordinated tax compliance and reporting process.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of tax compliance and accounting experience obtained in a public accounting firm, a publicly traded corporate tax department, or a combination thereof.
  • A current and valid CPA license is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a broad range of corporate income tax matters, particularly tax provision and compliance experience.
  • A general understanding of, or experience with, state and local taxes in multi-state jurisdictions.
  • A strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively with tax and finance teams.
  • An ability to identify, research, and solve tax issues.
  • The ability to communicate complex tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP system is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in U.S. federal tax and ASC 740.
  • Ability to operate autonomously in a lean environment.
  • A demonstrated focus on continuous improvement and the use of technology to enhance the tax function.
