Sr. Systems Engineer - Hybrid

About the role

This is a highly technical, hybrid-onsite role in New York, NY serving as an escalation point for Systems Engineers. You will mentor junior engineers, deliver onsite IT support, and work in a collaborative environment that accelerates technical growth.

Responsibilities

• Mentor a team of Junior and Systems Engineers
• Perform onsite IT support for end users
• Manage support queries via ticketing system
• Maintain documentation and comply with organizational rules and guidelines
• Adhere to strict change-control procedures

Requirements

• 3+ years of IT experience in desktop support, systems engineering, or systems administration
• End-user support: Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, desktop, and mobile-device troubleshooting
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to balance projects, support tickets, and R&D initiatives
• Significant experience with Microsoft 365 stack (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Intune, Azure AD)
• Systems administration: Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy
• Familiarity with endpoint threat management (Sophos or similar)
• Understanding of virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
• Networking knowledge: TCP/IP, LAN/DMZ/WAN, DHCP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls
• Experience supporting workloads in Azure
• Implementation and support of enterprise networking equipment: Palo Alto/Cisco firewalls, Cisco switches, Cisco/Meraki/Ubiquiti WAPs
• Experience in an MSP environment
• Physical ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs, stand/sit for extended periods, climb stairs, kneel, crouch, and work around machinery
• Must be onsite full-time

Desirable Qualities

• Financial-industry experience with market-vendor applications (Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, FactSet, CapIQ)
• MSP experience with ConnectWise suite
• Advanced Microsoft Azure experience
• Exceptional written and verbal communication
• Experience with Google Workspace, Box, Dropbox, Duo, Okta, AirWatch
• Support of Citrix XenApp or similar products
• Experience with cybersecurity solutions (Carbon Black, Cylance, CrowdStrike, Cyberhat)
• Experience with Mimecast or other mail-security gateways (IronPort, Proofpoint)
• Understanding of storage and virtualization platforms (Nimble, Pure Storage, NetApp, EMC, VMware, Hyper-V, XenServer)
• Scripting/automation knowledge: PowerShell and Infrastructure-as-Code tools
• Advanced understanding of high-level infrastructure design
• Ability to review, recommend, and implement emerging technologies
• Contribute to procedures, wiki articles, and build standards
