Sr Surgical Technician PRN, As Needed

Responsibilities

• Assists other members of the health care team in delivering patient care during the intra-operative period.
• Prepares and handles instrumentation and surgical equipment.
• Assists the surgeon during the surgical procedure.
• Administers care and use of equipment applications based on the age and needs of the patient population served (neonate through geriatric).
• Must be knowledgeable of specific procedures or specialties, effectively prioritize, plan, and problem solve.
• Recognizes the need for immediate response during urgent or emergency situations.
• Has basic knowledge of medical terminology, the metric system, and aseptic technique, and applies this knowledge in all patient and family interactions.

Qualifications

• Three years as a Surgical Technician and certification as a Surgical Tech (CST) or Surgical Tech Assist (CSA)
• Diploma OR three years of surgical tech experience OR successful completion of a Surgical Tech Apprentice Program
• One of: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA), Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C), Certified Operating Room and Surgical Technician (CORST), or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA)
