Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer , Amazon Leo
About the role
Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world. The Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) role is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of critical electronics components sourced from a global supplier base. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker with excellent analytical abilities, technical skills, and a passion for developing a global supply base to produce high-quality, mission-critical hardware in volume production.
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Responsibilities
- Lead supplier qualification, audits, process controls, failure analysis, and continuous improvement to ensure robust, repeatable, and compliant manufacturing across the supply chain.
- Define and scale Leo’s quality system to enable early detection of process excursions, improving product reliability and wafer component yields in volume manufacturing.
- Lead root-cause analysis for supplier and internal defects, including test failures and device-level failures.
- Oversee screening and qualification flows (burn-in, thermal cycling, solderability, SEM/EDS, X-Ray, and other advanced failure investigation techniques).
- Influence suppliers and drive performance improvements.
- Own systems, tools, and business processes for managing device traceability and key quality/test metrics.
- Represent Leo Supplier Quality in cross-functional initiatives.
- Travel as needed to accomplish program objectives.
A day in the life
- Collaborate with product development teams as the owner of component quality system requirements.
- Act with internal customer obsession to improve reliability, reduce defect rates, and drive failure analysis for Leo Production.
- Serve as the face of Quality for component suppliers, communicating expectations and resolving issues.
- Facilitate component quality as a subject matter expert in supplier qualification, device traceability, and statistical process control.
- Lead resolution of quality events using structured failure analysis tools.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Experience leading technical initiatives and key deliverables.
- Experience with version control systems and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
- 5+ years of experience with analog, digital, and high-speed circuit design.
- 5+ years of experience developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
- Background in aerospace, satellite hardware, or telecom infrastructure.
- Knowledge of plating processes, die/package assembly, bonding, and contamination control at the device and PCBA level.
- AS9100D Lead Auditor trained/certified.
- Direct experience deploying JEDEC/IPC/APQP/PPAP methodologies per AS9145 or equivalent standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Working knowledge of IEEE standards applicable to electrical components and interconnects.
Pay
- USA, CA, Sunnyvale: $183,000.00 - $247,600.00 USD annually
- USA, WA, Bellevue: $159,200.00 - $215,300.00 USD annually
