Sr. Submarine Ordnance Technician
About the role
The Sr. Submarine Ordnance Technician is responsible for maintaining and certifying PSSE equipment, missile tube loading/handling maintenance platforms, weapon cradles, and ballast cans. They also assist in depot-level maintenance and schedule preventative maintenance according to current directives.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and certification of all PSSE equipment, Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platforms, weapon cradles, and ballast cans.
- Assist in conducting preventative and corrective maintenance for Missile Tube Loading/Handling Maintenance Platform (R-10).
- Manage and document all maintenance and repairs performed, including those involving HAZMAT lockers.
- Support vertical launch system (VLS) and VPT loading and maintenance platforms, as well as AURVs, Mk 60 AUR's, Crew Training Shapes (CTS), TOTEMS, torpedoes shapes, Mk 101 & Mk 112, ballast cans, and AURBb's.
- Handle and transport 688 Class, Virginia and Columbia Class PSSE and non-ordnance equipment between trailers, trucks, and submarines.
- Provide technical support for non-ordnance handling, including waterfront operations, and ensure all equipment is properly maintained and certified.
- Support the transportation of hull-owned equipment, such as the VACL Berthing Module, to/from the waterfront.
Qualifications/Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years full-time, hands-on experience in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, and repair of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems/equipment.
- A minimum of 6 years full-time hands-on technical experience in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, and/or repair of submarine non-ordnance handling systems.
- Ability to assess equipment and perform assessments as required of ordnance and non-ordnance related equipment for submarine components.
- U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance and pass necessary background checks.
- Physical stamina, strength, agility, and endurance to walk continuously for extended periods, climb ladders, stairs, ramps, and work aloft.
