Sr. Structural Engineer

Responsibilities

• Bridge, tunnel, and ancillary/traffic safety inspections and load ratings
• Preparing scheduling, writing inspection reports, assuring QA/QC, and assist with project coordination
• Performing structural analyses, developing calculations, and preparing plans in accordance with federal, state, and local agency requirements
• Preparing quantities, cost estimates, and special provisions
• Making site visits and performing onsite structure inspections as needed
• Managing and maintaining project and QA/QC documentation
• Aiding project managers with schedule and budget updates, proposal preparation, and other assignments
• Designing steel, concrete, and timber bridge elements, walls, and associated structures as time allows

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related degree
• 5+ years of experience in bridge inspection, methods, and procedures
• Experience with MA infrastructure projects preferred
• MA Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation or ability to obtain within 12 months
• Bridge Design/Rehabilitation and Bridge Load Rating experience a plus
• NHI Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures, FCM, tunnel inspection NHI courses, railroad, and/or safety training completed within the past 5 years
• Completion of an NHI two (2) week Bridge Inspector’s Training Certificate and/or Refresher course within the past 5 years

• A self-starter with the ability to work with project teams and manage multiple and concurrent tasks/assignments
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage the inspection duties in the field
• Data-driven and detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Considerable knowledge of Architecture, Engineering, Construction inspection process and procedures
• Ability to meet deadlines and complete work in a timely manner
• Ability and willingness to travel to work sites
