About the role
SciTec is seeking a Sr Staff/Senior Software Engineer to support programs delivering Missile Defense Solution software in an operational setting. The role involves onsite support and system optimization, focusing on customer-facing tasks.
Responsibilities
- Support the availability, reliability, and performance of operational services supporting critical mission systems
- Maintain and enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions
- Implement corrective and preventative actions after incidents
- Participate in post-incident reviews to improve system reliability
- Automate, standardize, and proactively engineer improvements to existing software systems
- Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of existing software systems
- Support software system lifecycle activities including upgrades, patches, and configuration changes
- Provide documentation, knowledge sharing, training, and clear communication across the organization
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or a related technical field
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
- 3+ years of professional experience working in Linux environments
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices and commitment to high-quality code
- Demonstrated performance optimization skills for data-intensive or compute-intensive systems
- Ability to work onsite in-person at Buckley Space Force Base in Aurora, Colorado
- Effective communication skills and attention to detail
Preferred Skills
- An active TS/SCI DoD security clearance
- An advanced degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or a related technical field
- Experience working with mission critical data processing workflows for remotely sensed data (OPIR, EO/IR, SAR, Spectral, RF or similar)
- Experience with software development, integration, and deployment within government frameworks
- Knowledge of cloud environments and transitioning from on-prem solutions
- Experience with software containerization and orchestration, including Docker or Podman and Kubernetes
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools, including Jira and Confluence
- Experience with operational planning activities
- Experience providing customer support and help desk activities

Pay Range
The pay range for this position is $127,000 - $193,000/year.
