Sr. Specialist – Indirect Material and Spare Parts

About the role

You will be responsible for leading Indirect Material and Spare Parts Management for all Ultium Cells sites in Tennessee. This position supervises a team, provides employee development and training, drives the performance management process, and manages an efficient organizational structure. You will be responsible for all aspects of Indirect Material Operations for all sites, including:

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an overall strategy for Indirect Material, including spare parts, covering:
    • 3rd Party Management
    • In-house crib operations
    • Managed outside warehouse
    • Vendor Managed Inventory
    • Kanban/Fill Systems
  • Work with the maintenance and facilities team to:
    • Identify spare parts requirements
    • Develop Min/Max strategy and manage to Min/Max
    • Make changes to Min/Max based on usage data
    • Identify parts that can be sourced through a 3rd party vendor/management company
    • Manage 3rd party spare parts management company
  • Develop and execute:
    • Crib(s) storage plan at each site (layout of the crib, ordering of racking, cabinets, bins)
    • Pull system deployment
    • Maximo for Crib Operations
    • Hiring plan for all Indirect Material Operations
  • Work with the Purchasing Team to execute POs to ensure spare part availability for the plants
  • Develop and execute POU Delivery and Pull systems at all sites
  • Manage outside warehouse and offsite inventory
  • Responsible for indirect spend for all sites
  • Work with finance to develop budget and forecasting spend
  • Hire, train, develop, mentor, and manage employees to ensure right technical and leadership bench strength in the team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or another Business-related field
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in various roles related to Spare Parts Management
  • SAP experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and lean material processes; logistics (LLP processes), receiving, internal material flow, scrap, obsolescence, etc.
  • Experience with implementation of lean principles
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, effective project planning in terms of resources, strategies, cost, and time, with ability to meet project timelines
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are complex
  • Knowledge of work measurement and work standards
  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals required
  • Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job and/or project
  • Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
  • Keeps abreast of current product and process developments and trends in areas of expertise
  • Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities
  • Prior experience with varied Supply Chain office and floor assignments
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing systems such as TPS and/or GMS
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Process (CIP)

Other: Position is in Spring Hill, TN; ability to travel as required (less than 10%).
