About the role

This role is a key growth engine for Schwab, focusing on delivering innovative retirement, equity, and workplace financial solutions. The successful candidate will lead software delivery teams, ensuring they produce high-quality outputs while navigating a rapidly changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent production of high-quality software outputs by guiding and supporting all aspects of software delivery, including design, development, testing, deployment, tooling, and support.
  • Act as a strong, versatile hands-on technical leader to deliver high-quality solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Drive the adoption of generative AI and machine learning technologies throughout the software development lifecycle, overseeing AI-assisted code generation, debugging, and architectural design.
  • Lead efforts to assemble and lead teams that develop distributed, scalable enterprise-class applications using technologies like C#, ASP, .NET, Delphi, Angular, SQL Server, Oracle, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, SAML, OAuth, REST, and SOAP-based APIs.
  • Build and maintain a team that leverages each member's strengths to achieve team, organizational, and corporate goals.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, partners, and all levels of the technology organization to articulate complex technical issues and exceed customer expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT across Software Engineering/Development roles
  • 5+ years of people leadership, supporting highly technical individuals
  • 5+ years of experience running small to medium-sized projects and initiatives
  • Experience leading efforts to drive the adoption of generative AI and machine learning technologies throughout the SDLC
  • Hands-on experience with Agile (Scrum/Kanban) processes in planning, implementation, and support of business applications, including change & release management
  • Strong knowledge of, and demonstrated expertise in, software design, development, testing, maintenance, and support
  • Leadership, communication, facilitation, and motivational skills, with the ability to build rapport with and influence team members, peers, and partners
  • Able to attract, engage, and retain top, diverse technical talent
  • Ability to coach team members to aid in identifying and achieving their personal and professional development goals
  • Understanding and leveraging team member strengths to accomplish team, organization, and corporate goals
  • Client-focused mindset, driven to understand and exceed the expectations of our internal and external customers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Skills

  • Experience with Test Driven Development
  • Financial Services industry experience
  • Experience with the Atlassian suite of products (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, Bamboo)
  • Familiarity with Cloud Platforms such as PCF, GCP and AWS
  • A software engineering background
