Sr Software Engineer - BIOS, AWS Hardware Engineering, Firmware Development
We are the AWS BIOS Engineering team, responsible for creating and maintaining custom firmware solutions for Amazon's innovative server platforms. Our BIOS/UEFI implementations lead the industry in security, performance, and operational excellence, playing a critical role in AWS's massive-scale infrastructure that millions of customers rely on daily. As a BIOS engineer, you will tackle complex firmware challenges and build robust, secure bootloader solutions that help AWS maintain its competitive edge in data center infrastructure.
About the role
The ideal candidate is a senior firmware engineer with 7+ years of hands-on embedded or BIOS/UEFI development experience. You will bring deep expertise in x86 platform architecture, secure boot implementations, and low-level system programming. Your role will involve leading complex firmware projects end-to-end, collaborating with silicon vendors on platform bring-up, and integrating reference code. You will analyze AWS's custom server firmware stack for both current needs and future scalability, leveraging system-level expertise to solve complex boot-time challenges. This position requires close collaboration with internal teams (hardware, validation, security) and external partners (silicon vendors, ODMs) while leading critical firmware development efforts.
