Sr. Software Engineer, Backend

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated backend engineer to join our Internal Tools team. Our team owns the design and implementation of our next-generation internal tools platform — a new advertiser management platform that unifies several legacy systems under a single, modern foundation, with a focus on high-performance middleware and backend services. You will play a central role in building this platform from the ground up: designing APIs and services, shaping the data model, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems.
• Develop APIs, microservices, and other server-side components that power platform features and functionality.
• Contribute to the architecture and design of backend systems.
• Ensure solutions are reliable, scalable, and performant, and make informed decisions on technology choices and system design.
• Design and optimize relational database schemas and queries that serve as the system of record for the platform.
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to define and implement new features and improvements.
• Identify and troubleshoot complex technical issues, provide effective solutions, and optimize system performance.
• Continuously improve and refactor the codebase to enhance scalability and maintainability.
• Maintain high standards for code quality, including thorough testing, code reviews, and documentation.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Evaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks, and libraries — including AI-assisted development tooling — to strengthen our stack and our team's velocity.
