Sr. Software Engineer

About the role

The Sr. Software Engineer will play a pivotal role in shaping and improving the experience of key Vertafore customers. This position involves working cross-functionally across various departments to guide customers and contribute to the growth of the team.

Responsibilities

• Innovates and crafts clean code
• Confidently work with customers to describe technical concepts and recommend appropriate solutions
• Aid business analysts in reviewing request information and documenting solution designs
• Create advanced tables, views, stored procedures, indexes, constraints, cursors, user defined functions and triggers using T-SQL and SSMS
• Optimize query performance and tuning indexes using Query Analyzer and other tools
• Extract, transform and load (ETL) data
• Develop advanced interfaces and perform unit testing
• Deploy developed solutions within non-production environments and assist with Vertafore production release deployments
• Lead junior developers and provide feedback to senior leadership
• Mitigate the impact of technical decisions across the entire product
• Drive and manage design conversations for features considering business needs
• Create new features and supporting/bug fixing existing features
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues across the whole stack
• Provide solutions for complex, ambiguous problems through multiple stacks and products
• Ensure quality of code within the team written or reviewed
• Contribute to defining and enforcing procedures, standards, and methodologies related to software development
• Model and mentor other team members

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer related field
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience with Java/.NET and common frameworks
• Experience working in an Agile environment required
• 3+ years of experience in security best practices for software and data platforms required
• 3+ years of experience with Restful APIs required
• 3+ years of experience with design, architecture, and implementation at an enterprise level required
• Experience with Angular or similar technology preferred
• 3+ years of experience with database technologies (e.g., Oracle, SQLServer, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, Cassandra, etc.)
• Experience with Identity and Access Management preferred
