Sr. Software Engineer

About the role

The Sr. Software Engineer on the Digital Manufacturing Team at Allegion is responsible for enhancing the digital product development teams' effectiveness through innovative solutions. This role involves mentoring other engineers, advocating for best practices, and collaborating with product teams on solution and data architectures.

Responsibilities

• Mentoring other Software Engineers
• Collaborative design and maintenance of standards for development, solution, and software architecture
• Advocate for the implementation and utilization of best practices across the group
• Advises product teams on solution and data architectures, balancing business objectives with non-functional requirements
• Collaborative design of interactions between applications to ensure reliable, fault-tolerant integrations using standard methodologies
• Identify technical and security risks in projects and products and develop strategies to alleviate them
• Communicate technical architecture direction and its relation to business objectives to all levels of the group through documentation, training, and awareness
• Deliver technical solutions for projects using agile project management methodologies
• Develop specified application components or enhancements as needed
• Advocate for security and data privacy of all applications and data storage
• Support innovation through creative application of tools and methods to software and infrastructure architecture, design, and development
• Analyze existing business processes and software for potential design improvements
• Work with the IT team, business functions, external vendors, and contract resources to deliver project requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner
• Strengthen the relationship between the product, design, security, DevOps, infrastructure, legal, and development teams

Requirements

Qualified candidates must have current experience with a modern general-purpose object-oriented language such as C# or Java, or experience in a modern JavaScript framework such as Angular or React. A passion for technology and willingness to explore and adopt new technologies for practical business purposes is essential. The role requires a positive attitude towards working with an agile team to develop innovative technical solutions built on a secure foundation that enables business growth, more reliable customer interactions, and improved customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology related discipline, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in the design, development, implementation, and integration of enterprise applications

Skills

Knowledge in software and solution architecture, experience designing applications that integrate custom software, cloud architectures, and commercial off-the-shelf software, and familiarity with the services available and their benefits or trade-offs. Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment while providing consistent application lifecycle management. Demonstrated knowledge in software development methodologies and best practices, application lifecycle management, and development and automation tooling.

Pay

The expected Base Salary Range: $115,000.00 – 135,000.00. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
