Sr. Software Engineer
About the role
Align is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer to join the team in the Morrisville, NC office. You will be part of a team of software engineers working on large-scale, distributed, cloud-based services.
- Help the team solve engineering problems and deliver state-of-the-art software solutions.
- Work closely and willingly with your team members and members of other teams.
- Take part in all phases of our agile software development process—design, planning, and execution.
- Take full ownership of delivered code in terms of quality (test automation), maintenance, and monitoring.
- Combine technological and personal skills to demonstrate accountability by monitoring production health and suggesting improvements for stability, robustness, and user experience.
- Take responsibility for improving systems and products to make them more predictable and reliable for business continuity.
- Ensure application development principles, standards, and best practices are followed for each project.
Requirements
- 8+ years of overall web development experience, preferably with secure, scalable web applications.
- BS/MS degree or equivalent years of experience.
- Solid understanding of agile development principles, attention to detail, and ability to design solutions for multiple product requirements.
- Ability and expertise to design web applications with high user volume, cross-platform integrations, and scalable applications in heterogeneous environments.
- Expertise in microservices and related architectures and patterns, such as event-driven architecture and CQRS.
- Strong experience with either .Net/C# or Java/Kotlin, Spring, Spring Boot microservices, and REST web services.
- Experience with various design patterns and object-oriented programming concepts.
- Experience with databases—SQL and NoSQL.
- Experience in developing/managing REST APIs to support communication between systems.
- Understanding of messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Experience with cloud services such as AWS or Azure, especially around serverless technologies.
- Experience with industry-standard cloud technologies, e.g., Docker, Kubernetes.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and/or Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems.
- Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Git, and BitBucket.

- Strong interpersonal, oral, written, and visual communication skills, with the ability to present findings concisely and effectively.

Pay
If provided, base salary or wage rate ranges are the range in which Align reasonably expects to set a candidate’s pay for the posted position. Actual placement depends on individual skills and experience, plus total compensation and equity across team members. For locations outside the primary location, the base salary range will be adjusted geographically. For Field Sales roles, the salary listed is base pay only and does not include applicable incentive compensation plans. A cost-of-living adjustment may be added to base pay for higher-cost areas in the U.S.
