About the role

As a Software Development Engineer on the AWS Marketplace Buyer Fulfillment team, you'll lead the development and improvement of backend services that power front-end web applications, meeting high customer expectations for usability and performance. You will operate at all levels, from diving deep into technical details to providing strategic product inputs. This role involves designing and implementing scalable product and service features, collaborating with product managers, UX designers, and engineers, and owning the quality and deployment of your code. You will mentor junior team members and drive best practices in software development. The ideal candidate is a creative technology leader with expertise in Gen AI, a bias for action, and comfort with ambiguity, solving problems that haven’t been addressed at scale before.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
  • Design and build scalable, distributed systems, including storage, index, and query systems that are fault-tolerant, low-cost, and easy to manage.
  • Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems using cutting-edge technologies at scale.
  • Solve broadly defined problems by designing and coding the right solutions in an agile environment.
  • Deliver high-quality software while managing ambiguity and rapid development cycles.
  • Mentor junior engineers and raise the bar on software development best practices.
  • Think like an owner, influencing time-to-market, quality, and functionality for users.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
  • 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience with Gen AI and a bias for action in a startup-style team environment.

Pay

Base salary range: $184,900 - $250,200 USD annually (location: USA, NY, New York). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
