Sr. Software Development Engineer, Agentic AI

The Agentic AI organization at AWS is on a mission to empower developers and enterprises to store and retrieve memory for autonomous agents that can reason, plan, and act using state‑of‑the‑art GenAI systems. Our AgentCore Memory team enables both short and long term memory capabilities of agentic systems. As a tier‑zero Amazon service, our solutions must be scalable, efficient, and fault tolerant. You will work on an AWS service that is trend‑setting in the GenAI field, delivering strategic technical projects, designing large scalable systems, and creating new software that has a significant bottom‑line impact. In addition to delivering critical software, you will mentor engineers, provide leadership on complex technical issues, and help shape the technology, product, and business of a fast‑growing team within a large company. You will collaborate with applied scientists, drive system architecture, spearhead best practices, and coach junior engineers while working in a startup‑like environment to rapidly deliver services with broad business impact.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy distributed machine learning systems and large‑scale solutions for a worldwide customer base.
• Collaborate closely with a team of applied scientists to influence overall strategy.
• Drive system architecture and spearhead best practices that enable a quality product.
• Help coach and develop junior engineers.
• Deliver strategic technical projects, build large scalable systems, and design new software systems.
• Provide mentorship and leadership on complex technical issues.
• Contribute to the foundational AI services that power the future of cloud computing and help customers solve complex challenges.

Requirements

• 5+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent (preferred).

Pay

Base salary range: USA, NJ, Jersey City – $184,900.00 to $250,200.00 USD annually; USA, NY, New York – $184,900.00 to $250,200.00 USD annually. The total Amazon package includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs), with final compensation based on experience, qualifications, and location.
