Sr Software Developer (Exp w/ Petroleum Supply Chain/Optimization/Mathematical Modeling)

The Role

AspenTech is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our Manufacturing and Supply Chain group. This role involves designing and developing new features in collaboration with Product Management and Product Designers. Key responsibilities include:

• Investigate new and developing modeling and optimization technologies.
• Determine how to leverage these technologies into software applications.
• Provide technical leadership for software development projects related to mathematical modeling and optimization.
• Design, develop, maintain, and support new and existing engineering software applications.
• Contribute to technical and functional design sessions.
• Provide creative solutions to technology challenges.
• Maintain and enhance existing code bases.
• Provide technical support to product management, product marketing, services, and customer support on customer activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s degree is helpful, PhD preferred).
• 5-8 years of experience in the development of software for modeling, control, and optimization of chemicals, oil & gas, and/or refining processes.
• Strong background in numerical methods, mathematical modeling, and optimization.
• Solid computer programming and software development experience, including specific experience in C#/.NET. Experience with C++ is a plus.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.

Skills

• Strong software development knowledge and understanding of modeling and optimization principles.
• Working knowledge of refinery and petrochemical processes as well as supply chain and distribution modeling.

Pay

Negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Full-time, remote work option available.
