Overview
The Software area develops computer programming systems and applications, including designing, coding, testing, and deploying products and solutions to meet firm obligations. This role is central to our cloud transformation initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of database development engineers and contribute to delivering complex solutions and projects
- Design, implement, and maintain Oracle databases and AWS-native data services (e.g., RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift)
- Lead data migration and modernization efforts from on-premises to AWS
- Develop and optimize data models for transactional (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP) workloads
- Implement high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies using RMAN, Data Guard, and AWS Backup
- Drive performance tuning, capacity planning, scalability, and security hardening of data platforms
- Mentor, manage performance, ensure coding standards, and act as a hands-on technical expert for complex issues
- Plan, prioritize, and execute projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with product roadmaps
- Collaborate with Architecture, Engineering, QA, DevOps, and Operations teams to deliver integrated, end-to-end solutions
- Monitor and troubleshoot data infrastructure using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and other observability tools
- Manage and participate in production support, incident response, root-cause analysis, and long-term problem remediation
What You Bring
- 12 - 15+ years of experience in Oracle and other RDBMS technologies
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS data services: RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, Glue, and S3
- Proven success delivering complex database initiatives in large-scale, enterprise environments
- Expertise in SQL/PLSQL, query optimization, and indexing strategies
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux scripting, Python, or other automation tools
- Familiarity with data governance, encryption, and compliance standards (HIPAA, GDPR)
- A leadership style rooted in collaboration, mentorship, and leading by example
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical topics across all levels of the organization
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a track record of resolving high-impact production issues
Bonus Points
- Experience with Oracle ASM, GoldenGate, or Exadata
- Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL pipelines, and big data technologies
- AWS Certified Database – Specialty or equivalent certifications
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized data platforms
- Prior experience supporting mission-critical, 24x7 production systems
Pay
$165,000k - $203,000K
