About the role

In this role, you will support products recently transitioned from an on-prem data center into AWS Cloud. You will strategize and implement cloud best practices for newly transitioned products, maintain operational coverage of environments, and continuously optimize for efficiency, stability, and reliability as a SaaS offering. Responsibilities include enhancing automation, scaling, process improvement, metric collection, security, and visibility into product environments. You will leverage DevOps approaches such as CI/CD processes and collaborate closely with development teams to ensure secure and manageable migrations into production. You may also embed within product teams to enable enterprise PaaS and SaaS offerings created by Platform teams.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Development, Business, and Platform teams as the point of contact for products and underlying infrastructure running in AWS Cloud.
  • Operate in an Agile methodology using Scrum and Kanban boards.
  • Enable development teams with cloud best practices and AWS Well-Architected Framework knowledge.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable, reliable solutions.
  • Improve observability for applications running in the cloud.
  • Support applications on-prem and migrate them to AWS Cloud.
  • Lead strategic initiatives for seamless application integration and orchestration in cloud-native environments.
  • Implement best practices for configuring, tuning, and securing APIs/Microservices.
  • Utilize tools like curl and wget for diagnostics, network performance analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of HTTP concepts and protocols to optimize web application performance.
  • Manage and optimize cloud-based infrastructure in AWS, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Work with container orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Handle network management tasks.
  • Use Azure DevOps for managing tickets, CI/CD pipelines, release management, and infrastructure as code.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of industry experience, with at least 1 year in an Associate-level role or equivalent.
  • Cumulative experience in DevOps, with a preferred split of 70% operations and 30% development.
  • Strong experience with containerization, Kubernetes, EKS, and CI/CD pipelines using GitOps methodologies like ArgoCD and FluxCD.
  • Experience with Git for version control, preferably Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch alerts), troubleshooting, and serving as an escalation point.
  • Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Expertise in AWS services: Transfer Family, EC2, AMIs, Elastic Beanstalk, and Load Balancers.
  • Proficiency in SQL and SQL administration, including managing database configurations, users, and performance troubleshooting in RDS.
  • Experience with basic database hygiene concepts to ensure data integrity and efficient storage.
  • Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Linkerd, Istio) is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Pay

The annual full-time base salary range for this role is $95,000 - $135,000. Specific compensation is determined through interviews and a review of relevant education, experience, training, skills, geographic location, and alignment with market data. Certain positions may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
