Responsibilities
- Hands-on laboratory presence to perform experiments and guide/mentor scientists.
- Manage timelines for multiple projects and prioritize work based on business importance and urgency.
- Effectively and consistently communicate with management and cross-functional teams on progress toward milestones and program needs.
- Prepare formal reports and presentations for group meetings.
- Use professional concepts to solve complex problems in practical ways.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
- Maintain expertise in areas relevant to the company’s products and strategic goals.
- Adhere to Good Documentation Practices and Good Laboratory Practices.
- Develop experimental strategies and plans for new products and product applications supporting Bioproduction, Gene Therapy, and Cell Therapy markets.
- Analyze and interpret data using statistical tools as required.
- Troubleshoot equipment and experimental problems independently; invent, create, and implement new technologies and methods.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the Bioreactor Scale-up Team and lead the team to support other R&D teams and internal customers.
- Develop new applications for products and processes based on customer feedback.
- Support marketing and new products through presentations, publications (e.g., application notes), collaborative studies, customer interactions, and conference participation.
- Contribute to the development of long-range plans for Bioreactor Scale-up.
Requirements
- Minimum B.S. in science, bioscience, engineering, or bioengineering field.
- B.S. with >12 years of relevant work experience, or M.S. with >10 years, or Ph.D. with >4 years of relevant experience.
- Effective communication skills with external and internal customers.
- Experience building strong relationships and managing cross-functional projects.
- Capable of working on complex problems of a challenging nature.
- Capable of independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria.
- Mammalian cell culture experience.
- Experience designing, running, and analyzing data from mammalian culture bioreactors.
- Experience with process development to optimize parameters for bioreactors.
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English.
Pay
For California, the base salary range for this position is $106,000–$138,000. Compensation for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience, location, etc.).
