About the role
Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Develop and test GNC hardware components and systems for the TeraWave satellite constellation
- Develop technical specifications, interface control documents, and system architecture designs for GNC subsystems
- Analyze GNC hardware performance requirements and validate designs through simulation and testing
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including software engineers, avionics specialists, and mission planners to ensure integrated system performance
- Conduct system performance assessments, stability analysis, and develop risk mitigation strategies
- Provide hands-on support for integration and testing of flight hardware
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware non-conformances and test failures
- Support supplier technical management and evaluation of GNC hardware components
- Contribute to design reviews and documentation throughout the development lifecycle
- Develop and maintain GNC hardware test procedures and verification plans
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
- 7+ years of experience in spacecraft/satellite GNC hardware development, integration, or testing
- Experience with spacecraft attitude determination and control systems (ADCS)
- Familiarity with GNC sensors and actuators such as star trackers, IMUs, reaction wheels, and magnetorquers
- Familiarity with hardware qualification and acceptance testing procedures
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing and simulation
Qualifications
- Experience with LEO or MEO satellite constellations
- Knowledge of optical communications systems and pointing requirements
- Experience with Q/V-band RF communications systems
- Familiarity with radiation effects on spacecraft hardware
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for GNC modeling and simulation
- Knowledge of spacecraft dynamics and orbital mechanics
- Experience with hardware-software integration for GNC systems
- Previous work on satellite communications systems or networks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Experience with fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) systems

Benefits
- Base Pay Range: $144,179.00 - $201,849.90 for CO applicants, $156,802.00 - $219,522.45 for WA applicants

For CO applicants is $144,179.00 - $201,849.90
WA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45
