About the role

The Sr Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) position at Houston Methodist is responsible for performing advanced procedures such as intubation, EBUS, ECMO, and teaching in-services to the respiratory staff. This role requires four years of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, with at least two years in a critical care level, and neonatal experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced procedures as assigned, including intubation, advanced pulmonary diagnostics, EBUS, electromagnetic navigation, ECMO, etc.
  • Develops and teaches in-services/programs for the respiratory staff, participates in quality improvement initiatives, and serves on departmental committees.
  • Serves as a mentor and resource to Respiratory Care team members and students, helping them achieve optimal performance levels in specialized areas like ICU and NICU.
  • Works independently, exercising sound judgment and executing above-average clinical skills on challenging procedures and patient care situations.
  • Assumes duties associated with coordinating activities within the Respiratory department.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credentials (RCP, RRT, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, RRT-ACCS, NPS, CPFT, RPFT, RRT-SDS, AE-C, TTS, RPSGT).
  • Four years of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, with at least two years in a critical care level (preferred at Houston Methodist).
  • Neonatal experience preferred.
