About the role
Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital seeks a highly skilled and experienced Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have four years of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, with at least two years in a critical care level. Neonatal experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to teamwork by offering assistance and guiding other Respiratory Care Practitioners and students.
- Facilitates open communication and provides patient teaching based on learning needs.
- Serves as the primary therapist for advanced treatments such as intubation, EBUS, ECMO, etc.
- Coordinates activities within the respiratory department and assists in problem-solving.
- Assists with troubleshooting and maintaining equipment, reporting malfunctions.
- Provides direct assistance to physicians, ensuring quality and reliability of results.
- Trains and mentors new therapists, contributing to departmental improvements.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved education program for the required credentials.
- Four years of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, with at least two in a critical care level.
- Neonatal experience preferred.
- Required licenses and certifications as listed under 'Licenses and Certifications'.
- Demonstrated skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including teaching and mentoring.
- Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in operating multiple systems.
- Ability to work independently and handle challenging situations with sound judgment.
- Strong interpersonal and team player skills, with a focus on customer service.
- Adaptable to multiple priorities and able to organize work flow independently.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Demonstrates skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, as determined through assessments and evaluations.
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English for patient and employee safety.
- Ability to communicate clearly and provide excellent service during patient and customer encounters.
- Possesses basic computer knowledge and operates multiple systems to maintain patient and exam documents.
- Capable of handling challenging/difficult procedures and patient care situations with sound judgment and clinical skills.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal and team player skills with all levels of the healthcare team.
- Adapts to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision, organizing work flow and participating in problem-solving.
