Sr. Research Scientist/Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities

Design and implement optical filters which meet customer requirements for consumer electronics, bio medical devices, gas monitoring, fluorescence microscopy, astronomy, light sensing, projection display, and other applications.

Develop and/or improve processes for manufacturing optical coatings.

The assignment will encompass optical coating design, substrate preparation, substrate / wafer handling, vacuum-based coating processes such as sputter deposition, post-coating optical metrology, and other processes.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements

• Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum B.S. in Material Science, Physical, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Optical Engineering or related field.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interaction skills.
  • Analytical thinker; detail oriented; problem solver.
  • Proficient with computers: strong proficiency with MS Excel and Office required.
  • Experience in vacuum engineering, vacuum processes, thin film deposition and optics highly desirable.
  • At least 10 years of experience required.
  • Must be U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR.

• Additional / Desired Qualifications:

  • Graduate / Advanced degree preferred.
  • Expertise in Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
  • Familiar with a Cleanroom work environment.
  • Programming skills: especially experience with MatLab or similar programming tools desirable.
  • Project Management.
