About the role
Scotts Miracle-Gro is seeking a Senior Regulatory Toxicologist to join our team. This role is a hybrid position based in Marysville, Ohio.
Responsibilities
- Toxicological Risk Assessment: Conduct comprehensive toxicological risk assessments for raw materials and products using in vitro, in vivo, and in silico modeling to meet North American safety standards (e.g., CPSC, EPA, PMRA)
- Monitoring & Training: Stay current on global toxicological regulations and scientific advancements; develop and deliver training programs on sustainable chemical management for internal stakeholders
- Strategic Input & Collaboration: Provide expert toxicological guidance to R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, and regulatory affairs teams while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on safety initiatives
- Chemical Sustainability: Implement and manage a chemical sustainability program by identifying safer alternative materials and developing strategies to reduce or eliminate hazardous substances
- Regulatory Compliance: Develop and execute product safety testing strategies to support North American labeling and hazard communication standards; prepare scientific toxicological dossiers for regulatory submission
Requirements
- Master's Degree, Toxicology, Pharmacology, or Environmental Health
- Desired: Board Certification in Toxicology (DABT) or ability to sit for the exam within 5 years
Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in toxicology, focusing on regulatory toxicology, risk assessment, or green chemistry within a chemical or consumer products company
- Demonstrated success managing raw materials and product sustainability programs; experience in chemical manufacturing or consumer goods
- Data Interpretation: Ability to interpret complex scientific data and toxicology studies
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of North American hazard communication (GHS, CPSC, EPA, OSHA, PMRA) and green chemistry principles
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills to present complex scientific information clearly to diverse audiences
- Technical Proficiency: Meticulous attention to detail and proficiency with relevant toxicology databases and software
- Sustainability: Knowledge of life cycle assessment (LCA) principles and methodologies for assessing chemical alternatives
Pay
The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $87,600.00 - $103,100.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
