Sr. Quoting Specialist
Job Overview
The Senior Quoting Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end quotation process for PCBA, Box Build, and related manufacturing services. This role develops accurate, competitive, and profitable customer quotations by analyzing material, labor, overhead, logistics, tariffs, NRE, and margin requirements. The position works closely with Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Sales, and suppliers to collect and validate technical and commercial data required to complete customer proposals. This position reports to the Commodity Manager and is located at Unigen Headquarters in Newark, CA.
Primary Responsibilities
Own the complete quotation process from RFQ receipt through final customer proposal. Review customer RFQs, specifications, BOMs, Gerber files, drawings, and technical documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy. Analyze customer requirements, identify risks, assumptions, and missing information, and coordinate resolution with internal teams and customers.
Develop detailed cost models including: Raw materials and component costs Material overhead, attrition, and scrap Labor and manufacturing process costs Test, inspection, tooling, and NRE costs Freight, logistics, tariffs, and duties Inventory carrying costs and profit margin targets Roll up total product costs and prepare customer pricing recommendations.
Prepare quote packages, profitability analyses, and management approval documents prior to customer submission.
Collaborate with Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Sales, and suppliers to gather technical, operational, and commercial inputs required for quotations. Obtain supplier pricing, lead times, MOQ requirements, and market intelligence. Validate manufacturing assumptions, labor estimates, test requirements, yields, and capacity constraints.
Support customer quote reviews, negotiations, and pricing discussions with Sales and Program Management teams. Drive value engineering and cost-reduction opportunities during the quotation process.
Maintain quotation databases, cost models, pricing history, and RFQ tracking systems. Monitor commodity pricing trends, supply chain risks, tariffs, and market conditions. Review and update labor, overhead, and costing assumptions to ensure quote accuracy and competitiveness.
Generate quotation performance metrics, including win/loss analysis, quote cycle time, pipeline status, and management reports. Prioritize RFQs and ensure timely delivery of customer quotations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in EMS, electronics manufacturing, sourcing, procurement, commodity management, cost estimating, or quotation management.
Strong knowledge of electronic components, PCB fabrication, PCBA, Box Build, and manufacturing processes.
Proven experience developing customer quotations and cost models for electronics manufacturing programs.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, Power Query, and financial modeling.
Experience with ERP, PLM, and quotation management systems.
Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
