About the role
Join one of the nation’s premier academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine, as a Sr. Quality Improvement Project Manager for our Quality Performance Improvement department. This is an on-site position with opportunities for remote work. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
Responsibilities
- Manage a group of related projects and serve as a point of contact in the organization and on the team for assigned projects
- Facilitate the planning and development of quality plans for a related group of projects tied to annual quality goals
- Oversee the planning, design, implementation, and completion of small to medium projects with support from supervisor
- Execute project plan and provide daily support for moving the project forward on large strategic initiatives with support from QIPM or supervisor
- Identify and communicate alignment and impact of project plans on related projects within the QPI portfolio and across the organization
- Identify and manage project risks
- Facilitate the use of standard QI and PI tools
- Mentor and guide team members on use of QI tools/approaches
- Navigate and facilitate the distinction between quality improvement and research, and the potential intersections
- Represent the QPI team and offer quality improvement expertise in committee meetings as needed
- Develop and carry out the strategy for the facilitation of multidisciplinary meetings and design sessions
- Develop coherent, actionable summaries from the input of many stakeholders generated during meetings and design sessions
- Facilitate decision making to achieve consensus on plans and next steps with stakeholder buy-in
- Expertly navigate relationships and problem-solving during meetings with front line staff, hospital leadership
- Collaborate with data teams within UCM to ensure data and analytics needs of assigned projects are satisfied
- Utilize available data and reports to identify potential trends, root causes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, engineering, or performance improvement field
- Possess a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in healthcare, performance improvement, project management, or other advanced positions
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff, including physicians and administrative staff
- Experience facilitating groups with many different stakeholders
- Ability to elicit cooperation and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external leaders
- Knowledge of performance improvement techniques and methodologies
- Ability to independently coordinate projects among many functional units; applying project management experience and knowledge of project management tools and techniques
- Ability to plan, lead and execute large scale projects with major impacts on clinical operations and outcomes
- Ability to manage, interpret, and present data
- Self-motivated: given appropriate direction for goals, must be able to work autonomously in a sometimes ambiguous and changing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in public health, healthcare administration, business administration, nursing, or other health care-related field
- Possess a minimum of 2-3 years’ Performance Improvement experience in Hospital, or large Health System
- Experience with clinical terminology
