Sr. Python Engineer / Lead

About the role

As a Senior Python Engineer, you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable integration solutions that support Community & State market onboarding initiatives. You will play a key role in building automation capabilities, enabling seamless market implementations, and improving operational efficiency. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product teams, architects, and operations partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of backend architectures that support new market onboarding and integration initiatives.
• Develop and maintain Python-based microservices and REST APIs for enterprise-scale applications.
• Create automation solutions that streamline onboarding, operational workflows, and business processes.
• Partner with product owners, business teams, and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to improve platform stability.

Requirements

• Proven experience developing enterprise applications using Python.
• Strong hands-on experience with FastAPI, RESTful services, and microservices architecture.
• Experience working with NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency with Git/GitHub and modern CI/CD practices.
• Experience delivering enterprise integration and automation solutions in complex environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience supporting production systems.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with business and technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Knowledge of healthcare, market onboarding, or large-scale operational transformation initiatives.
• Experience designing scalable cloud-native architectures.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures and integration patterns.
• Experience mentoring team members and providing technical leadership.

Skills

Benefits

• The annual salary for this position is between $ 75,000 to $ 135,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
• This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
