Sr Python Developer

UMR/ROG Technology is seeking a senior software engineering professional to join the Global Markets Technology division. The successful candidate will collaborate with technical, operations, and business partners to define requirements, design, develop, implement, and support key business applications.

About the role

The role requires strong communication skills and adaptability, as the developer will work with teams across multiple regions. Location: Jersey City, New Jersey. Job type: Contract. Work hours: 8am to 5pm.

Responsibilities

• Work individually or as part of a team to develop, support, enhance, extend, test, and deliver existing and new software.
• Collaborate with multi-regional teams using Agile best practices.
• Participate in software design, development, testing, L3 support, requirements gathering, and creating functional specifications documents.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a relevant analytical field.
• Excellent server-side development skills with 10+ years of experience in Python and Quartz or similar proprietary technology (e.g., Sec DB, Athena, Beacon).
• Strong Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and Design Patterns skills.
• Familiarity with the Gen AI tech stack: GitHub Copilot, Copilot Studio, Agentic AI, MCP, FastAPI, etc.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong team player with excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Good understanding of Financial Derivatives (Swaps, Futures, FX, Emerging Markets products).
• Good understanding of testing concepts (TDD, BDD, etc.).

Desired Skills

• Experience with trading/risk platforms and understanding of derivatives.

Pay

$54.62 - $64.62 per hour.
