Sr Project Manager, Municipal

Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of multi-discipline projects and clients from the proposal process to project closeout
- Plan, direct, and coordinate activities including client meetings, public hearings, and public involvement events so that projects move forward within the prescribed time frames and budgets
- Anticipate client needs, biases, and preferences and tailor communication and work output accordingly
- Team Leadership: Lead a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring project progress in multiple locations
- Work directly with municipal client staff to deliver CIP programs and projects, potentially on-site in a staff augmentation setting
- Client Relations: Establish and maintain relationships with municipal clients, understand their needs, and ensure project requirements are met
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure projects comply with relevant municipal codes, regulations, and environmental standards
- Budgeting and Resource Management: Develop project budgets, allocate resources effectively, and monitor expenditures to ensure cost control
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential risks and challenges, develop risk mitigation strategies, and resolve issues that may arise during project execution
- Contract Management: Oversee contract negotiations, review contractor performance, and ensure compliance with contractual agreements
- Prepare or coordinate preparation of project/client correspondence and documentation
- Participate in and lead business development activities to new and existing clients through plans, leads, and participation in client meetings and networking events
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, implement best practices, and promote innovation within the municipal engineering department
- Understand alternative funding sources for municipal projects and ability to secure funding
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school
- Registration as a professional engineer (or the ability to obtain registration within six months)
- 8+ years municipal experience; direct experience working for a municipality
Qualifications
- Experience in managing municipal CIP programs and projects, clients, and staff in this market
- A history in delivering projects with positive customer service experiences
- The ability and desire to develop an understanding of, or even anticipate, the client’s needs
