About the Role
Join our team as a Senior Project Manager to ensure the application of sound project management techniques and processes for facility design, construction programs, and projects. Support strategic planning efforts including master planning, site specifications, and standards. Manage, plan, coordinate, and supervise staff, architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors to complete construction of new County facilities, expansions, renovations, and capital improvements.
Responsibilities
- Establish a collaborative team environment across functional departments to achieve objectives and ensure accurate, cost-efficient requirements documents.
- Assist in shaping project management processes.
- Prepare bid/construction documents and review drawings, plans, and specifications for code and health/safety compliance.
- Develop criteria for consultant selection.
- Track project initiation and prioritization.
- Shorten startup timelines for infrastructure, brief upper management, and attend public meetings.
- Ensure projects include cost estimates, risk assessment, mitigation, configuration management, and supporting documentation.
- Conduct field surveys of sites and buildings, conferring on program requirements for repairs, remodeling, renovations, or construction.
- Develop projects with defined scope, cost estimates, and schedules.
- Gather, research, compile, analyze, and organize information from files, maps, drawings, reports, and studies related to site asset history and condition.
- Conduct interviews, surveys, and site inspections to assess factors affecting site assets and recapitalization.
- Oversee capital expenditure and construction project budgets, coordinate contract negotiations, and monitor project progress.
- Resolve and recommend solutions for unplanned increases in project costs.
- Act as liaison between County departments, elected officials, Assistant County Administrator, and Budget Officials to align project time frames, objectives, and funding.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to operational management procedures, processes, and policies.
- Determine and oversee the compilation of the yearly budget for construction projects and advise the Office of Management and Budget on future estimates.
- Prepare project status reports and schedules as required.
Requirements
- Knowledge of contract administration and negotiations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree and six (6) years of experience in architecture, project management, or construction, managing multiple projects OR a Bachelor’s Degree and eight (8) years of experience in the same fields.
- Five (5) years of experience working with construction project estimating and Florida building codes.
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, State of Florida Professional Architect registration, and/or General Contractor Certification preferred.
