About the Role
The Sr. Project Manager is an integral member of the Original Equipment (OE) Group, working closely with the OE Director to ensure successful customer interface, execution, and shipment of technically challenging projects. The OE Group supports business needs and continuous improvement efforts through technical product and engineering principles, encompassing quoting, engineering, quality, project management, production planning, and procurement.
Due to Federal Contract requirements, US Citizenship is required for this position.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact with the customer, responsible for all communications and customer satisfaction after contract award.
- Define the scope of supply for awarded contracts, including internal deliverables and customer submittals.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to establish milestones and recommend high-level work priorities based on the milestone schedule.
- Monitor the status of assigned contracts throughout engineering, job creation, procurement, manufacturing, testing, and shipping stages.
- Interface and collaborate with departments such as Operations, Supply Chain, Planning, Quality, Sales, Test, and Engineering to meet contract objectives.
- Negotiate changes to contracts, including Terms and Conditions, submittals, delivery expectations, and pricing, while identifying scope increases.
- Execute a communications plan to meet project requirements, including status updates on major materials, delivery timelines, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Proactively document delays, scope changes, and incidents impacting the scope of work or schedule.
- Prepare monthly revenue forecasts for the OE Group in collaboration with the program manager.
- Communicate task schedules to project team members to ensure timely completion and advocate for required resources.
- Anticipate and address potential contract problems before they escalate.
- Coordinate and chair meetings to ensure planned activities occur and meet project requirements.
- Manage multiple, parallel projects using formal project planning techniques.
- Maintain contract files in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
- Produce regular status reports assessing contract status relative to cost, delivery, customer submittals, milestone completion, and risk.
- Coordinate product packaging and shipping in accordance with contract requirements.
- Ensure progress payments and final invoices are executed on time.
- Create and maintain a Health of Contract Report to monitor project performance to budget and schedule, including an "Issues List" for unplanned obstacles.
- Develop post-shipment contract reviews, assessing cost, delivery, quality, and contract-specific requirements, and communicate improvement ideas for future contracts.
Secondary Duties
- Aid in the development of project quotes, including milestone generation, timeline creation, risk assessment, and review of commercial requirements and terms.
- Participate in training and coaching new or inexperienced team members.
- Assist in developing department plans, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
Senior Responsibilities
A senior project manager is expected to fulfill the primary and secondary duties with:
- Minimal oversight or direction from the program manager.
- High accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage challenging, first-of-a-kind projects.
- Strong ability to drive project objectives.
Requirements
- BS in Engineering or Project Management, or equivalent job experience.
- 5-10 years of experience managing government projects in a project/contract-based business (preferred).
- Experience in managing research and development projects in engineered products (preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, terms and conditions, and customer specifications.
- Up to 10% yearly travel expected.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project, and the Internet.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented, highly motivated, and possess a high level of personal initiative.
- Able to facilitate geographically distributed and cross-functional project teams.
