About the Role

Provides assistance with managing the administrative, commercial, and technical components of assigned project(s) in the Power & Energy sector in Burnsville, MN. Responsibilities include overall performance of the project(s) including financial, technical, client satisfaction, quality, safety, and schedule. Ensures adherence to responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle (proposal phase, project startup and planning, project execution, reporting, and project closeout) with a level of quality that meets or exceeds corporate standards.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development of project proposals, cost estimates, scope, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Develop the work breakdown structure (WBS) tasks and estimated costs.
  • Update documentation within designated systems and processes, including: Risk (REF/RMP), Project Management Plan (PMP), Project Quality Plan (QP), Project Safety (PSP), and Communications Plan as necessary.
  • Facilitate project kick-off meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Project Accounting to monitor and track project metrics, estimated time-to-completion, cash management, and budgeted margin.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, cost and change management and control.
  • Coordinate with area/technical managers to address project resource and subcontractor requirements.
  • Oversee subcontractors, and coordinate supplier submissions, invoices, and payments.
  • Immediately communicate and escalate any project site Health & Safety or client issues to senior PM staff and leadership.
  • Participate in problem project reviews, providing input about root cause issues and potential solutions.
  • Provide regular project reporting and updates to clients, technical area, and business unit managers.
  • Liaise with the Procurement Department to closeout procurements and/or supplier agreements.
  • Complete formal project closeout activities, including conducting and documenting a lessons-learned meeting with key project staff.
  • Develop financial acumen to understand project financial data.
  • Remain current in the latest Project Management techniques and practices (PMAP).
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related major, or relevant experience.
  • Working towards project management certification (e.g., PMP, CAP-M).
  • 5+ years of relevant post-education experience in a project management role within the A/E/C industry.
  • Understanding of project delivery process within the A/E/C industry and defined background in project management.
  • Competent analytical and organizational skills, with business acumen to bridge business and project management.
  • Capable critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess and apply project management principles.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Works independently with minimal oversight and strict adherence to QA/QC.
  • Proficient with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), and PM tools.
  • Effective at coordinating resources, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and others.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies.
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree.
  • Experience supporting federally funded or government infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of contract language and procurement documentation review.
  • Familiarity with WBS (Work Breakdown Structures) and project controls terminology.
  • Project coordination certification or training (e.g., CAPM, APM, or similar).
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools for tracking or reporting purposes.

Pay

Expected salary range: $89,600 - $156,600. Compensation is based on education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal equity.
