About the role

The Senior Project Engineer/Project Manager - Civil/Municipal position at Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is based in Pensacola, FL. The ideal candidate will provide quality planning, design, technical assistance, and project management to the design team.

Responsibilities

  • Performs engineering analyses and evaluations (primarily computer-based) in support of the planning and design of civil works projects, including but not limited to the following areas:
    • Water distribution system and sanitary sewer collection system hydraulic modeling;
    • Pump station modeling and analysis for well pumps, sewer system lift stations, and transmission pumping stations;
    • Analysis and evaluation of treatment options for potable water and wastewater plants;
    • Analysis and evaluation of water and sewer rate structures;
    • Planning, assessments and recommendations related to the need for public water and wastewater facilities.
  • Performs analysis and design of water distribution systems; water supply and treatment components; sanitary sewer systems and components; transmission, treatment and disposal systems; POTWs and other projects.
  • Performs engineering analyses and evaluations (primarily computer-based) in support of the planning and design of civil works projects, including but limited to the following areas:
    • Hydrologic analysis
    • Hydraulic modeling – multi-dimensional
  • Conducts assessment and evaluation of existing system conditions and develops recommended remedial measures.
  • Maintains and documents written and verbal communications with clients throughout the development and completion of a project.
  • Attends meetings on project management.
  • Affords administrative duties concerning completion of assigned projects, including review of schedules, scopes and budgets.
  • Affords assistance in preparation of engineering studies and reports.
  • Provides technical guidance and training to members of the project team.
  • Prepares project design using sound engineering principles, engineering software and tools.
  • Affords assistance in preparation of contract documents and technical specifications.
  • Affords assistance in assuring quality control procedures are performed.
  • Maintains responsibility for the accuracy of each segment of the work and the final check of the work.
  • Maintains responsibility for adherence to applicable codes.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and mentoring to engineering staff.

Requirements

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Experience: 10+ years of related design experience, and knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations required. Three to four years coordination/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Certifications/Registrations: License as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Florida required. Certifications applicable to civil engineering, water and/or wastewater plant operations desired.

Skills

  • Proficient in design using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station, ESRI, HEC-RAS and ADICPR products.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project required.
  • Knowledge of design, on-line reports and databases preferred.
  • Understanding of and experience in the application of sustainability principles in public infrastructure.
  • Knowledge and ability to use (or learn) Deltek Financial and Project Management system is required.
  • Superior communication skills and in-depth knowledge of company products and operations.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
