Job Summary
KALCON is seeking a self-starting Sr. Project Engineer to support civil utility and site infrastructure activities on mission-critical construction projects as an Owner's Representative. Key responsibilities include utility coordination, site development, underground infrastructure, contractor management, schedule tracking, procurement coordination, document control, and project closeout support.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, or similar field, or equivalent experience
- 2-5 years of experience as a Project Engineer in assisting or supervising construction projects of increasing complexity required
- Data Center experience is a preferred
- Experience in CSA (civil, structural, architectural) and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) construction management is a strong preference
- Proficiency in Procore is strongly preferred
Project Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Biweekly review of schedule updates
- Walking the site daily to validate installation against schedule from a high level
- Liaison between procurement team and GC related to OFCI equipment
- Maintaining client agendas and meeting minutes
- Performing two on-site safety observations per week
- Aiding in review of pay applications and filing of lien waivers
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders on project schedule and procurement
- Maintaining a good relationship with peers on the general contractor’s team
- Aiding in document control and issue closeout during commissioning
- Processing POs and Change Orders
- Leading smaller meetings and documenting meeting notes throughout project life cycle
- Managing Procore directory, monthly updates, and GC Procore document control
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinating internal alignment on project document reviews, cost optimization exercises, contract issuances, and design modifications
- Enforcing project quality controls and safety programs through an in-depth understanding of partner contracts and design documents
- Managing the client safety program and providing weekly HRA site walk reports
- Translating job requirements to execution with minimal supervision
- Aiding the construction manager in preparing monthly financial updates and forecasts
- Managing the contractor billing process for the project and facilitating coordination with the client CCF department to ensure accuracy of scope included in each bill and timely review of all pay applications
- Managing the change order review process turnkey. Providing timely review of change orders for accuracy of scope and costs
- Inputting PO requests in the financial system and managing the distribution process to all client vendors
- Facilitating page-turn design document reviews and capturing comments with action items for internal stakeholders and direct contracted design partners
- Managing client vendors turnkey to ensure successful completion of their scope (ie. Signage, Furniture, and Controls)
- As required, managing design team/contractors throughout each project
- Working closely with operations to coordinate ongoing construction activities on campus, developing and tracking MOPs for critical work in live spaces, and providing customer support as necessary
- Providing project commissioning support by onboarding the Commissioning Agent, facilitating script approvals, and ensuring compliance with customer requirements
- Managing and maintaining internal project file storage
- Driving internal and external project closeout requirements
- Assisting the Construction department with the upkeep of current campus and site permits, updating the permit bond tracking sheet, and coordinating with local authorities to ensure all permits are current
- Additional duties as assigned from time to time by Management
