Responsibilities
- Leads team and other Project Architects in planning work and developing solutions to technical and design detail problems
- Collaborates with PIC/PM in defining project work plans and developing and managing the production schedule, including effectively defining and meeting deadlines
- Led the creation and modification of complex detailed implementation documents to incorporate the design intent, using diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices and advanced techniques
- Led development of code analysis and confirms code and zoning requirements for assigned segment of project are met
- Supervises the preparation of documents by architectural team, including verifying implementation documents conform to QA/QC and HKS standards, best practice and quality expectations
- Manages the technical resolution and coordination for the project
- Writes reports or specifications for assigned project
- Prepares client presentations and presents design concepts and drawings
- Maintains open communication with client and provides guidance through projects
- Coordinates with PM, clients, public agencies, consultants and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, respond to requests for information, clarifications and modifications, and obtain approvals, negotiations and adjusting scope of services
- Communicates with client representatives to verify design requirements and specifications, progress reviews and delivery of final presentation
- Exercises skills of persuasion and negotiation on critical issues
- Oversees consultant team work sessions
- Oversees product research; assists project designers with material and system evaluation to make proper selections
- Maintains awareness of risk management for potential project issues and involves PIC/PM if needed
- Participates in team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues and coordination with other disciplines
- Attends on-site visits, field reviews and project meetings and documents as needed
Qualifications
- Accredited professional degree in Architecture
- Typically 15+ years of experience
- Licenses and Certifications: Architectural Registration required; Sustainable design accreditation preferred
- Advanced – expert-level experience, knowledge or skills in:
- Advanced skills in Revit, Navisworks and Bluebeam
- Intermediate – experience, knowledge or skills required to produce high-quality solutions or work in:
- Intermediate skills in Rhino, Grasshopper, Dynamo, Twinmotion, Enscape or other visualization tools
- Intermediate skills in Illustrator and InDesign
- Basic skills in Photoshop
- Advanced skills in MS Office Suite
- Advanced knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines
- Advanced knowledge of materials, construction techniques, architectural building systems, building codes, accessibility guidelines and QA/QC process
- Advanced ability to research and apply/incorporate into implementation documents
- Advanced experience with the entire project lifecycle, through post-occupancy
- Advanced presentation, graphic and visualization skills to communicate ideas
- Advanced organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
- Advanced ability to manage team with diplomatic leadership style which puts value on relationships and collaboration, both internal and external
- Advanced ability to maintain existing client relationships and build new client relationships
- Advanced ability to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing
- Advanced ability to problem solve and apply innovative solutions
- Advanced ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in a team environment
- Advanced ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
Pay
Base Salary Range: $125k - $160k – applies to Seattle only. The estimate displayed represents the general base salary range of candidates hired at the Seattle locations only. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on the location of the role. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
