Sr. Professional Staff Nurse, Casual

Responsibilities

• Apply the nursing process using Relationship-Based Care to create a healing, patient-centered environment.
• Demonstrate strong critical thinking, communication, and documentation skills to support safe, coordinated care.
• Maintain accountability for professional development and contribute to a high-quality patient care environment.
• Participate in shared governance, goal setting, and quality-improvement initiatives within the unit.
• Collaborate as an engaged care team partner, supporting colleagues and adapting to change as needed.
• Identify and support opportunities for clinical quality improvement using research and evidence-based practices.
• Provide effective patient and family education, ensuring smooth transitions of care.
• Support the growth of students and new staff; may serve as a preceptor.
• Build caring, compassionate relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Foster productive working relationships by demonstrating accountability, cultural awareness, and healthy work-life balance.
• Communicate workplace safety concerns and model safe work habits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Strong ability to assess patient status, interpret clinical data, and identify age-specific care needs.
• Exceptional critical thinking, clinical judgment, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with patients, families, and all levels of staff.
• Mobility, visual/manual dexterity, and physical stamina to meet job demands, including frequent walking, standing, lifting, and patient positioning.

Licensure & Certifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the practicing state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR (AHA-approved) — required within 30 days of hire.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIH) — required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
• Act 34 Clearance.
• OAPSA Clearance.
