Responsibilities
- Apply the nursing process using Relationship-Based Care to create a healing, patient-centered environment.
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking, communication, and documentation skills to support safe, coordinated care.
- Maintain accountability for professional development and contribute to a high-quality patient care environment.
- Participate in shared governance, goal setting, and quality-improvement initiatives within the unit.
- Collaborate as an engaged care team partner, supporting colleagues and adapting to change as needed.
- Identify and support opportunities for clinical quality improvement using research and evidence-based practices.
- Provide effective patient and family education, ensuring smooth transitions of care.
- Support the growth of students and new staff; may serve as a preceptor.
- Build caring, compassionate relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Foster productive working relationships by demonstrating accountability, cultural awareness, and healthy work-life balance.
- Communicate workplace safety concerns and model safe work habits.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
- Strong ability to assess patient status, interpret clinical data, and identify age-specific care needs.
- Exceptional critical thinking, clinical judgment, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to build positive, collaborative relationships with patients, families, and all levels of staff.
- Mobility, visual/manual dexterity, and physical stamina to meet job demands, including frequent walking, standing, lifting, and patient positioning.
Licensure & Certifications
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the practicing state.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR (AHA-approved) — required within 30 days of hire.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIH) — required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
- Act 34 Clearance.
- OAPSA Clearance.
