Sr. Production Test Engineer

About the Role

Production Test Engineers (PTE) support the test process through one or more phases of the product life cycle, including product development, transition to production, sustained production, and depot activities. The PTE validates and ensures compliance of the prime hardware to its technical data package requirements, supports program schedule and cost goals, performs troubleshooting, data analysis, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), and problem solving of test failures. They identify opportunities to improve efficiency, yields, test time, defect reduction, and test capacity. The PTE serves as the primary authority for Test Equipment (TE), ensuring all actions and modifications align with operational requirements. They must understand how the TE and prime hardware being tested function and interact.

Responsibilities

• Provide test engineering support of the manufacturing areas.
• Interact daily with operations, quality, process/mechanical, and production control (PC) regarding urgent needs in test.
• Observe, analyze, and report test data; perform tests using engineering drawings, manuals, and related documentation.
• Perform technical efforts including process, test, troubleshoot, and repair of Digital, Analog, and RF equipment.
• Disposition non-conforming material using root cause and corrective action analysis; work on corrective action investigations to prevent recurrence.
• Drive Continuous Improvement, including process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk, automate, and reduce costs using Core/Six Sigma principles and data-driven decision making.
• Optimize forward and reverse test flow processes, maintain test-related documentation, and factory instructions.
• Ensure rigorous testing processes and deliver high-quality products to end customers.

Requirements

• Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance (Secret) is required prior to start date; ability to obtain INTERIM clearance is also required.
• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience related to RF test methods, troubleshooting, RF microwave product testing, engineering, and/or manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience reading and interpreting drawings to perform measurements and troubleshoot electronic equipment.
• Experience with RF measurements including: S-parameters, Noise Figure, Third Order Intercept, Phase Error, Return Loss, Compression, Gain, Insertion Loss, VSWR.
• Experience with Test Equipment and hardware including: Network Analyzers, Data Acquisition (DAQ), DC Power Supplies, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Power Meters, Digital Multimeters, Pulse Generators, Signal Generators, Attenuators, RF Amplifiers, Couplers, Power Dividers, RF Switches.
• Active and existing security clearance.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $86,800 – $165,200 USD. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
