Sr Product Software Engineer

About the role

The Senior Product Software Engineer will focus on major areas of work, including designing and developing platform services and features within a complex distributed system that delivers live sports data to web, mobile, and living room devices. They will also own and operate services in production, collaborate cross-functionally with other engineering teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to technical direction.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role

• Focus on major areas of work, typically 20% or more of role
• Design and develop platform services and features within a complex distributed system that delivers live sports data to web, mobile, and living room devices (40%)
• Own and operate services in production — monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response for the systems you build (15%)
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other engineering teams to solve complex problems, considering performance, scalability, caching, resiliency, and flexibility for expanding product requirements (20%)
• Mentor and elevate junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance (10%)
• Contribute to technical direction by participating in architectural reviews, proposing improvements, and researching emerging technologies (10%)

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training

• Minimum and Preferred
• Basic Qualifications
• Understanding of AWS services (e.g., CloudWatch, ECS/Fargate, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS)
• Experience with observability tooling (Datadog, Grafana, Splunk, or similar)
• Experience with GraphQL APIs
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• AI and LLM knowledge
• Experience working in sports media, live data systems, or high-throughput real-time platforms
