Influence Industry Standards

Lead the Product Management group in standards and regulatory initiatives, providing recommendations for product, component, material, and process improvements.

Interpret standards and regulations and translate them into clear, actionable engineering and product requirements.

Participate in and support standards development activities for industry associations; lead committees to advance Quanex goals in standards and regulatory matters.

Monitor changes to regulatory requirements and standards impacting window, door, and fenestration components; assess impact and communicate requirements internally.

Ensure all applicable industry regulations are met, including compliance timelines and required documentation.

Use materials compliance tools to manage declarations, documentation, and information.

Generate exceedance reports and collaborate with Engineering and Supply Management to reduce materials of concern and prioritize corrective actions.

Ensure products comply with applicable building codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., FGIA/AAMA, ASTM, NFRC, UL, CSA, ISO, ICC).

Advocate for Quanex’s technical positions while maintaining credibility and collaboration with industry peers.

Provide regular updates and recommendations to leadership on emerging standards, risks, and opportunities.

Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering to support new product development and product changes from a compliance standpoint.

Partner with Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to address compliance-related issues and corrective actions.

Support customer-facing teams (Sales, Marketing, Customer Service) by responding to regulatory, testing, and certification inquiries.

Assist in root-cause analysis and resolution of compliance-related nonconformances or field issues.

Support patent-related activities and other legal processes as needed.

Contribute to New Product Development and Productivity projects using DFMEA and DVPR methodologies, ensuring a strong compliance, standards, and materials-management perspective across the various divisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Materials Compliance, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with international standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • 5+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, product engineering, or testing within the window, door, fenestration or building products industry (preferred).
  • Familiarity with fenestration standards and building codes (preferred).
  • Experience supporting sustainability, environmental, or material compliance initiatives.
  • Ability to support the creation, development, and renewal of fenestration industry standards and building codes.
  • Proficiency with materials compliance tools and understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • Tech credibility and professional judgement.
  • Strong interest in sustainability, materials compliance, and waste/resource reduction.
  • Ability to create detailed project plans and manage complex projects effectively.
  • Excellent team collaboration and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
