About the role
The Computing Solutions Department within RTX is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to develop the next generation product line solutions in Cedar Rapids, IA. The ideal candidate will have experience in specifying, designing, verifying, and testing highly integrated computing and processing systems, particularly in safety-critical applications.
Responsibilities
- Develop requirements for a highly integrated DAL A computing system in accordance with industry guidance (ARP4754B) and program plans.
- Drive product architecture discussions, ensuring designs are both effective and certifiable.
- Collaborate closely with Hardware, Software, Safety, and Security teams during the design process.
- Lead the development of detailed design documentation for the next generation processing solutions.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings to generate concepts of operations and use cases.
- Author in-depth technical documents and develop automated tests using scripting.
- Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
- Adapt to change, prioritize tasks according to program schedules, and collaborate with teammates to make informed decisions.
- Contribute to a positive work environment and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
Qualifications
- Experience with safety critical system, hardware, or software development (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254, or ARP4754A/B).
- Typical requirement of a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with at least 7 years of experience.
- Experience with the avionics equipment certification process.
- Experience working with stakeholders to generate concepts of operations and use cases.
- Experience authoring in-depth technical documents.
- Experience with and testing embedded hardware and software.
- Experience developing automated tests utilizing scripting.
- Excellent communication skills for both internal and external customers.
- Adaptable to change, determined to accomplish tasks based on program schedule, and enjoy learning new technologies.
