Sr Principal Software Engineer – BM/SRM (26-325)
About the role
The Sr Principal Software Engineer – BM/SRM (26-325) plays a crucial role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at various levels. This position is essential for the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program, which is a key component of the Missile Defense System.
Responsibilities
- Build and support high-performance applications across multiple software disciplines
- Collaborate on system-wide implications and user needs
- Automated testing, software development, and best practices
- Debug, configure, and maintain existing codebases
- Create automated tools to improve developer productivity and operational efficiency
- Design, develop, and maintain high-throughput, object-oriented applications using common OOP languages and Python
- Conduct detailed analysis, design, coding, unit and integration testing, performance benchmarking, and operational integration
- Provide ongoing user support for complex software products
- Accept unforeseen assignments and travel up to 10% of the time for business needs
Requirements
- Current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application
- Proven track record of building and supporting high-performance applications
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies
- Experience in software integration and formal testing
- Strong background supporting software engineering on DoD programs
- Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams
- Experience in developing command and control (C2) system applications
- Strong background in software development best practices and the ability to apply them in a multi-team environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proven track record of root-cause analysis and issue resolution
- Proven ability to mentor and motivate junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes continuous learning and drives the team toward shared success
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment
- Experience presenting complex concepts to non-software-engineering audiences, including senior program leadership, government representatives, and military leaders
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
- A current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application
- Proficiency in Python and at least one additional object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java, C#, or C++)
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies
- Experience in software integration and formal testing

Pay
The annual salary range for this position is $135,800.00 - $203,600.00. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
