Northrop Grumman’s Weapons Systems Division is seeking a Sr. Principal Project Manager to support the Armament System/Ammunition Co-Production portfolio in Plymouth, MN. This role focuses on managing and executing Medium and Large Caliber International Co-Production programs, helping to identify, pursue, and capture indigenous production capability with allied partners worldwide.

About the role

The primary objective is to support the Ammunition Co-Production Program Management team, ensuring all program requirements and objectives are met. The individual will coordinate with cross-functional teams to satisfy program goals, lead Integrated Program Teams (IPT), and manage cost, schedule, and technical performance throughout the program lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct cross-functional Integrated Program Teams (IPT) to meet program cost, schedule, and technical performance objectives.
  • Measure and report program performance, delivering presentations to customers, executive management, and other stakeholders.
  • Create, review, and finalize program Statements of Work and other program management artifacts.
  • Identify, distribute, track, and complete program requirements.
  • Establish and manage program and subordinate baselines.
  • Develop and adhere to budget baselines using Earned Value Management (EVM) or similar cost & schedule control methodologies.
  • Identify, allocate, and manage program resources, including workforce planning.
  • Manage suppliers to meet program objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to internal processes, policies, and industry standards.
  • Ensure the program team understands and adheres to contract scope, managing change through control board activities.
  • Develop and adhere to master plans and schedules.
  • Conduct thorough risk and opportunity management practices, including identification, mitigation, and realization.

Requirements

  • 12 years of experience in project management, with a bachelor’s degree and 8 years or a Master’s Degree and 6 years of relevant experience supporting U.S. Government or International contracts.
  • Experience leading tasks on schedule, at cost, and achieving all requirements as a project lead, IPT lead, or cost account manager.
  • Demonstrated financial management skills, including development and control of program budgets and schedules.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project).
  • Experience or knowledge in a manufacturing and production environment.
  • Ability to work closely with multiple functional organizations (Program Office, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Field Operations, etc.).
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to travel both internationally and domestically up to 10% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience supporting international, transition to production, and production contracts.
  • Prior experience with large or medium caliber military armaments or related systems, including development, transition to production, and production.
  • Demonstrated history of effective project management utilizing EVMS tools and processes.

Pay

Primary salary range: $112,000.00 - $168,200.00. The final offer considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
