Sr. Principal Engineer - Autonomy

About the role
The Sr. Principal Engineer - Autonomy will provide design, development, and integration support of software architecture, motion planning, computer vision, sensor processing algorithms, graphical user interfaces, and inter-process messaging for active safety, advanced driver assistance systems, and unmanned ground vehicle control systems development.
Responsibilities
- Develop and integrate large ROS2-based autonomy software
- Perform engineering calculations, investigations, software development, hardware selection, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes
- Develop software unit and regression tests
- Support and mentor more junior Engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting
- Autonomously develop and deliver small and large portions of the overall application
- Support supervisor, suppliers, engineering specialists, and other departments to execute job assignments consisting of meeting specifications and performing calculations, analysis, and design
- Write requirements and design documentation
- Direct support of programs to include travel to off-site locations as necessary to accomplish assigned engineering programs
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements
- Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with six (6) or more years of related experience
- Produce high-quality and maintainable C++ code
- Proficiency in ROS2-based software development within complex applications
- Experience working on real-world autonomous applications as a key contributor
- Elevated proficiency with Ubuntu 22.04+ OS
- Elevated proficiency with distributed systems
Qualifications
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering
- Real-world autonomy projects experience as a key contributor
- Track record of project leadership or innovative solutions designs

Pay
Pay Range: $104,100.00 - $173,900.00. The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
