About the Role
The Senior Principal Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for assessing, defining, and implementing Swagelok electronic design and architecture standards and leading product design/definition of new and existing products. This person is a thought-leader in software and electronics design, gathering requirements, generating specifications, and ensuring new solutions meet process and performance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Applies engineering principles and design practices to ensure products meet internal and industry standards.
- Contributes to the development of corporate software and electrical product design methodology.
- Understands software and hardware development cost implications and performs budgetary cost analysis.
- Develops detailed system requirements for quotes and development by 3rd party vendors or internal teams.
- Manages technical relationships with 3rd party hardware and software development vendors.
- Plans and leads sprint-based development with internal and external resources using Agile Project Management.
- Translates customer requirements into system requirements, including hardware design, component specification, and firmware/software architecture.
- Leads test design, system evaluation, and acceptance testing.
- Delivers technical documentation and presentations.
- Ensures “as-built” changes are documented through the change management system.
- Coordinates electrical design team work with mechanical design activities to meet customer requirements.
- Performs failure analysis and conducts performance evaluations.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including operators, manufacturing engineers, and technicians.
- Provides guidance and assists in developing Swagelok capabilities in electronics design.
- Mentors less-experienced peers and team members.
Requirements
- BS degree in Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in system architecture, software architecture, hardware architecture, or similar field.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in typical office software.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Degree in Electrical, Computer, Software, or similar engineering field.
- Preferred: Embedded System Design Experience.
- Preferred: System Architecture Experience.
- Preferred: Agile Project Management Experience.
