Engine provides the infrastructure that connects consumers with personalized financial products through a network of financial institutions and distribution partners, matching millions of consumers with lending, deposit, credit card and other products via an API-driven marketplace.

About the role

This role sits at the intersection of product innovation, business strategy, and analytics leadership — one of the highest-impact individual contributor positions within the organization, helping shape how Engine measures product success, evaluates customer experiences, and makes strategic product investment decisions. Key cross-functional partners include Product, Engineering, Revenue, Operations, and Executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Product and Business Strategy — serve as a trusted strategic advisor to Product, Engineering, and Executive leadership; influence roadmap prioritization through data-driven recommendations and opportunity sizing; evaluate strategic investments and new product concepts through rigorous analysis and business case development.
  • Lead Product Analytics Across Multiple Domains — own analytics strategy across multiple product areas and consumer journeys; define and evolve North Star metrics, KPI frameworks, and measurement standards.
  • Establish Analytics and Experimentation Standards — lead the design and evaluation of complex A/B tests and experimentation programs; partner with Product and Engineering during discovery and launch planning; deliver executive-level readouts connecting results to business decisions.
  • Influence Product Development Lifecycle — partner with Product Managers from discovery through launch and post-launch optimization; define measurement plans, success metrics, tracking requirements, and KPI frameworks for strategic initiatives.
  • Lead Complex Investigations and Performance Analysis — conduct deep-dive analyses into customer behavior, marketplace dynamics, and product performance; serve as the escalation point for complex data investigations, quantifying impact and recommending corrective actions. Act as a subject matter expert on Engine's product and data ecosystem, driving cross-functional investigations involving Product, Engineering, Commercial, and Operations teams.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in Product Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Science, Consulting, or related analytical roles.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting product organizations within fintech, marketplace, SaaS, technology, or data-driven environments.
  • Extensive experience partnering directly with Product Management, Engineering, and senior business stakeholders.

Skills

  • Advanced expertise in SQL and working with large-scale data environments.
  • Strong understanding of product analytics, customer journey analysis, funnel optimization, and KPI development.
  • Deep knowledge of experimentation methodologies, statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and causal inference.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership and executive audiences.
  • Preferred: experience with modern data platforms/tooling (Snowflake, dbt, Looker, Amplitude or similar), and Python, R, or advanced statistical modeling.

Personal Attributes

  • Proven ability to translate ambiguous business problems into analytical frameworks and actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decisions and drive alignment across multiple teams without direct authority.

Schedule

Hybrid work model — 3 days in the New York office.

Pay

The annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $157,500 – $180,000 USD plus an annual performance-based bonus.

Benefits

  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match — Gen matches 50% of the first 7% of eligible pay you contribute, capped at $6,000 per year in company match.
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) funding — if you enroll in an HSA-eligible medical plan, Gen contributes $500–$1,500 per year depending on your coverage tier.
  • Wellness / fitness reimbursement — up to $375 per year reimbursed for eligible fitness and wellness expenses (gym membership, classes, etc.).
