Sr. Prin. Infrastructure / Networking Engineer

About the role

This role is primarily On-Site, with flexibility at hiring manager discretion. Applied Signal Technology (AST) is seeking a Senior Principal Infrastructure / Networking Engineer who will guide and oversee the design, develop, test, and delivery of advanced high-capacity systems that process modern communications.

Responsibilities

• Guide and oversee the design, develop, test and delivery of advanced high-capacity systems that process modern communications.
• Work with other experienced members in R&D on system development and deployments for the protection of our country.
• Generate briefings and present material to team members, customers, and AST Management as necessary.
• Travel up to 25% - other AST locations / customer sites.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
• Experience with system development to support multiple programs.
• Experience with development using Python or similar scripting languages.
• Hands-on experience with Linux, especially Red Hat based distributions.
• Experience with System Administration.
• Experience with enterprise grade networking equipment, such as Cisco, Arista, or Juniper.
• Experience with virtualization technology (KVM, VMWare, Hyper-V).
• Experience and/or knowledge of network protocols, such as TCP/IP and UDP.
• Experience with configuration management systems (Puppet, Ansible, Salt).
• Experience designing and setting up networks and data centers.
• Experience verifying and validating the software and system work as intended.
• Achieve and maintain an active and transferable Top Secret SCI (TS/SCI) U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain a polygraph after start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
