About the role
This is a senior-level position in power module design, focusing on defining high current density 48V/12V/5V DC/DC power module products for applications including networking, optical, and industrial markets.
Responsibilities
- Work with design engineers, field applications team, and TME to define new power module and IC products in DC/DC power solutions for the industrial market.
- Develop application reference circuits and system-level power management solutions for industrial applications.
- Perform hands-on lab bench evaluations, system and board-level debugging, and prototype demonstrations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support existing products and drive new product development.
- Communicate with customers on new product definitions and technical support.
- Write datasheets, application notes, design notes, and papers for magazines and conferences to promote MPS products.
Requirements
- MSEE or higher is required.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in switch mode power supply designs, especially in power module products.
- Familiarity with lab tools such as oscilloscope, DMM, power supplies, e-loads, and frequency analyzers.
Preferred Skills
- High power density/high current power converters.
- Magnetics design, including inductors and planar transformers.
- New topologies for isolated/non-isolated/regulated/non-regulated converters.
- High-frequency power converters with state-of-the-art power FETs.
- Proven problem-solving and hands-on debug capabilities.
- Experience with simulation tools like Simplis, Maxwell, or Icepak.
- Experience in PCB design/layout and EMI performance optimizations.
- Experience with firmware development for power converters.
- Fluent communication, writing, and presentation skills in English.
- Self-motivated with excellent project execution capabilities.

Pay
The base salary range for this position in California is $130,000 – $170,000, depending on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related reasons.
