About the role

This contract role will be heavily involved in inventory accounting, cost analysis, operational reporting, and financial support for a growing manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with inventory, work-in-process (WIP), product costing, and manufacturing operations, along with the ability to transform data into actionable insights through Power BI reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and analyze inventory valuation, product costing, and manufacturing cost structures.
  • Monitor and reconcile raw materials, WIP, and finished goods inventory.
  • Perform cost and variance analysis to identify operational trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support monthly close activities, inventory reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Conduct profitability analysis by product line, customer, and production processes.
  • Develop forecasts, budgets, and operational reporting to support business decisions.
  • Create and enhance Power BI dashboards and reporting tools to improve visibility into manufacturing and financial performance.
  • Partner with operations and production teams to analyze bills of materials (BOMs), routings, labor utilization, and overhead costs.
  • Conduct physical inventory counts and cycle count programs.
  • Assist with annual audits and inventory control initiatives.
  • Help improve reporting, costing processes, and ERP utilization during the company's ongoing system transition.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong background in cost accounting, inventory management, and WIP accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, data analysis, and reporting tools.
  • Hands-on experience creating, maintaining, and improving Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Experience with financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and audit support.
  • Able to communicate financial information effectively with both operations and executive leadership teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SyteLine ERP highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting ERP implementations, upgrades, or system migrations.
  • Exposure to AS400, PeopleSoft, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar ERP platforms.
  • Experience working in standard cost and actual cost environments.
  • Familiarity with FIFO, LIFO, lot tracking, and other inventory costing methodologies.
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Printing industry experience is a plus.
  • Experience within multiple manufacturing environments, and even some printing, is highly desirable.
